Aboriginal women create baskets and containers to carry food and other items. These include soft string bags or dilly bags made from woven bush string and stiff baskets made from bulrushes, strips of palm fronds, and strips of cane.
As they weave, they yarn and collect each other’s stories. This is a sacred time, and when finished, the basket carries not only their nourishment, but their community and spirit.
